This is part of my response to the comment on the article posted concerning Al-Brangi. I also received requests asking me to write in and translate more of my articles to English. All I can say for now is I will do my best to put across more of my opinions in English depending on the issues and will hopefully have enough resources to provide a translation for most articles sometime soon. Salaam. I know that this is very unusual for PAS, this open dialogue and debate. Many are against it, I assume, but I believe that open dialogue educates. There is no need to limit the discourse and discussion to only a select few as the issues are of interest and relevance to everyone.
Accountability is an important aspect of Islamic governance. A common citizen can question the Caliph, as was in the case of Saidinna Umar, about the source of certain goods, in Umar's case, his robe. Umar was questioned publicly whereas if according to 'Malay' culture, it would have been better to whisper it in Umar's ear. The right to dissent and question is a right we 'Islamists' speak of but very rarely embody when it comes to our own selves. I believe this is wrong as in the case of Umar, he was being questioned by a member of the same jamaah, i.e. the Muslim ummah. This actually forms part of the dakwah and tarbiyyah, provided of course if people respond intelligently and abstain from calling one another names.
The public then sees a level of ‘openness’ and ‘accountability’ being practiced by PAS which does not exist in other ‘Islamic’ organizations. Their fear of a ‘theocratic’ government where no one questions and the ‘dictatorship of the clergy’ takes shape is then proven to be unfounded.
With respect to the ‘OTAIs’ or respected elders and my open criticism about their irresponsible action (Cikgu Pa’s in this context), I believe everyone in PAS knows the story of the Prophet using Fatimah as an example to condemn ‘preferential treatment’ of the ‘nobility’ as was practiced by the Children of Israel. I would also like to put forward the case of Hatib bin Abi Balta’a, a member of Badr (ahlul Badr) who was put on open trial and publicly admonished by the Prophet (SAW) for succumbing to the threats of the Quraisy. Hatib tried to inform the Quraisy of the impending attack on Mecca and his messenger was intercepted by Ali and Zubair on instructions from the Prophet (SAW). Hatib confessed to his act of treachery and explained it was because of the threats to his family who were still in Mecca.
Saidinna Umar wished to put Hatib to the sword but the Prophet then spoke of Hatib’s sacrifice for Islam and his participation in Badr. Furthermore, he was compelled due to fears for his family’s safety. The disgrace and humiliation suffered by Hatib was seen to be sufficient punishment for him in that instance.
What is important is that Hatib was punished and his act condemned. This should be the approach when handling the ‘OTAIs’, not complete amnesty as would seem to be the case with Cikgu Pa and his comments about the 16th of September.

Pilu rasanya apabila melihat ahli-ahli saling meremeh, merendahkan, menyindir dan menempelak antara satu sama lain atas isu-isu yang mereka sendiri pun tidak beberapa jelas.... Lebih menyedihkan apabila ada ahli dan kepimpinan bawahan turut terjebak dalam memperlekeh, merendah dan meremehkan kepimpinan atasan jamaah atas isu-isu yang mereka sebenarnya juga tidak berapa jelas dan pasti hakikatnya!
Marilah kita kembali kepada akhlak Islam dalam menanganinya dengan meletakkan – kelapangan hati, kerendahan jiwa, kemaafan, husnuz zon (sangka baik), kasih sayang, thiqah, kepercayaan dan tuntutan ukhuwwah – sebagai asas terpenting mendahului segala-galanya.. Firman Allah s.w.t. di dalam surah An-Nur ayat 11-16, mafhumnya :
“Sesungguhnya orang-orang yang membawa berita bohong itu adalah dari segolongan kamu juga. Janganlah kamu kira bahwa berita bohong itu buruk bagi kamu bahkan ia adalah baik bagi kamu. Tiap-tiap seseorang dari mereka mendapat balasan dari dosa yang dikerjakannya. Dan siapa di antara mereka yang mengambil bahagian yang terbesar dalam penyiaran berita bohong itu baginya azab yang besar. [11]
Mengapakah di waktu kamu mendengar berita bohong itu orang-orang mukminin dan mukminat tidak berprasangka baik terhadap diri mereka sendiri, dan (mengapa tidak) berkata: Ini adalah suatu berita bohong yang nyata?! [12]
Mengapa mereka (yang menuduh itu) tidak mendatangkan empat orang saksi atas berita bohong itu?! Oleh karena mereka tidak mendatangkan saksi-saksi maka mereka itulah pada sisi Allah orang-orang yang dusta. [13]
Sekiranya tidak ada karunia Allah dan rahmat-Nya kepada kamu semua di dunia dan di akhirat, niscaya kamu ditimpa azab yang besar, karena pembicaraan kamu tentang berita bohong itu. [14]
(Ingatlah) di waktu kamu menerima berita bohong itu dari mulut ke mulut dan kamu katakan dengan mulutmu apa yang tidak kamu ketahui sedikit juga, dan kamu menganggapnya suatu yang ringan saja. Padahal dia pada sisi Allah adalah besar. [15]
Dan mengapa kamu tidak berkata, di waktu mendengar berita bohong itu : Sekali-kali tidaklah sepatutnya bagi kita memperkatakan hal seperti ini. Maha Suci Engkau (Ya Tuhan kami), ini adalah dusta yang amat besar.”[16]
Secara ringkasnya, beberapa panduan Rabbani dapat kita rujuk dari peristiwa Ifk (peristiwa fitnah ke atas Aisyah r.a., isteri Nabi s.a.w. dengan seorang sahabat) tersebut :
1. Tidak Mencari-Cari Keburukan & Menyebarkan Isu
Ada di antara ahli jamaah dan kepimpinan kadang-kadang ditimpa bencana memiliki hati yang berpenyakit. Mereka ini amat suka mendengar, memberi perhatian dan mencari-cari keburukan-keburukan sesama anggota.
Seronok kerana kononnya memiliki banyak rahsia buruk ahli jamaah maupun pimpinan dan merasa bangga apabila boleh menceritakannya kepada orang lain. Merasa diri hebat sebab boleh bercerita tentang keburukan pimpinan itu, kelemahan pimpinan ini, kesilapan ahli itu, kejahatan ahli ini dan sebagainya. Lebih seronok lagi jika ceritanya itu mendapat sambutan dan bilangan pelawat blog-nya semakin meningkat.
2. Berprasangka Baik dan Berusaha Melihat Sisi Positif
Salah satu sikap yang mesti dimiliki oleh anggota jamaah dalam hubungannya sesama ahli atau kepimpinan ialah sikap ber-husnuzon (berprasangka baik) kepada saudara kita sesama mu’min – siapa pun dia dan dari kelompok apapun mereka - sepanjang ia atau mereka dikenal keikhlasannya dan perjuangannya untuk Islam dan meninggikan kalimatulLah. Lihatlah kesilapan dan kelemahan yang berlaku dari sisi yang positif agar dapat memelihara hati kita dari kotor dan prasangka.
Kemungkinan pimpinan tersebut tersilap, tapi mungkin dalam situasi tersebut hanya itulah pilihan yang terbaik yang ada menurut pendapatnya. Kita berusaha semampu mungkin bersangka baik bahawa tindakan-tindakan tidak popular yang diambil oleh sesetengah pimpinan kita tersebut datangnya dari jiwa mereka yang ikhlas dan cinta kepada perjuangan. Cuma, tindakan tersebut mungkin bukanlah yang terbaik. Apakah berbaloi kita mencemuh kesilapan tersebut sampai berlebihan meremehkan keikhlasan dan kecintaan mereka terhadap perjungan???
3. Berlapang Dada Terhadap Kesilapan & Bersikap Pemaaf
Mana-mana ahli atau kepimpinan jamaah adalah kumpulan manusia yang pasti tidak terkecuali dari tersilap atau melakukan kesilapan. Setiap ijtihad, pandangan dan pendekatan strategic, tetap terdedah kepada kesilapan sebagaimana perkataan Imam Asy-Syafi’i rahimahulLah ;
“Ra’yi shawaab walakin yahtamilul khatha’ wa ra’yu ghairi khatha’ walakin yahtamilush shawaab
(pendapatku benar tapi mungkin saja salah, dan pendapat selainku adalah salah tapi mungkin saja benar).
Kepimpinan peringkat mana pun mereka tetap terdedah kepada kesilapan. Walaubagaimana pun, air yang banyak melimpah lebih dari dua kolah tidak terjejas dengan sedikit najis yang jatuh ke dalamnya. Kesilapan kecil yang dilakukan oleh kepimpinan tersebut tidaklah sepatutnya menjejaskan segala jasa baktinya, sumbangan tenaga dan pengorbanan yang melimpah ruah, kesetiaan dan segala kelebihan yang dimiliki yang melayakkan dia duduk di level tersebut…
4. Jangan Memandang Remeh Budaya Penyebaran Isu Liar
Menganggap sinis dan membiarkan isu-isu liar tersebar di kalangan anggota jamaah hanya akan melukakan ukhuwwah islamiyyah, mencarik rasa hormat sesama sendiri, menebalkan sikap kepuakan, memecah belahkan saff perjungan dan boleh melemahkan organisasi jamaah. Jamaah yang lemah ini akan semakin hilang upayanya untuk menanggung beban perjuangan yang berat dan semakin mencabar!
Bayangkan saudara.. dalam kesibukan kita dengan sepak terajang politik bersama segala seninya, rancak bermuqabalah untuk mengajak orang lain bersama kita, bercita-cita mengambil alih kuasa... isu-isu yang cukup mendasar sepenting UKHUWWAH ini pun masih banyak yang belum selesai... mampukah bangunan jamaah ini menanggung beban yang semakin bertambah, kalau bata-batanya binaannya masih tidak diikat dengan kuat dan tersusun kukuh?
YB kita berjumpa lagi, artikel di atas bagus utk kita kongsi bersama, natijahnya baik utk pembanggunan ukhuwah sesama jamaah.. kita tutup saja segala topik berkenaan dengan permasalahan ini.. sekiranya kita bangkit sebagai PANGLIMA dalam isu ini, pada hemat saya, tak kemana..Keris yg tajam sudah tumpul dan semakin tumpul. malah menguntungkan lawan kita iaitu BN yang sekarang sedang gelak ketawa terbahak2 melihat kita bertelagah dan bersilat sesama kita di khalayak ramai.. saya faham YB tidak berniat utk bersengketa.. cuma ingin membetulkan LAGI keadaan..
InsyAllah sama2lah kita selami dan hayati niat baik penukis artikel di atas dan sekiranya berlaku lagi kelemahan ijtihad dari pimpinan kita.. lebih baik kita tegur di dalam rumah saja dan gelanggang kita sahaja tanpa disedari lawan bahawa kita sedang islah dan menajamkan keris kita.. tak perlulah kita pasang singboard besar2.. kerana yg malu dan rugi ialah keluarga kita juga...
Abul Laits meriwayatkan dengan sanadnya dari Umar r.a. berkata Nabi Muhammad s.a.w. bersabda: "Siapa yang menempeleng (memukul) hambanya maka tebusan dosanya ialah memerdekakannya dan siapa yang menjaga lidahnya Allah s.w.t. menutupi auratnya. Dan siapa yang menahan marahnya maka Allah s.w.t. akan menyelamatkannya dari siksaNya dan siapa yang minta maaf kepada Allah s.w.t. pasti Allah s.w.t. menerima permintaannya."

Open discussion is on of the best approach can be done by PAS so that public (muslim or non muslim, PAS or "atas pagar") know & understand about any issue regarding any topic especially for "HOT ISSUE"...
However, public must be educated the rules for open discussion. It should be held in proper manner and "adab & tatasusila". All debaters or panelist should always "berlapang dada". With that i strongly believe that open discussion will give a good result to everyone.
p/s: I'm not very good in English. But i always tell myself "you should try,bcoz everyone make mistakes,but don't repeat the same mistakes".

Demonstration by PAS Youth against the concerts involving Canadian rocker Avril Lavigne, rock queen Ella and dangdut singer Mas Idayu. Where they get the right to decide what people can or can not do. Same thing happen during the Bar Council forum on "Conversion to Islam: Article 121(1A) of the Federal Constitution, Subashini and Shamala Revisited".
From the series of matters I discover the UMNO's shadow in PAS. I wonder where Malaysia will be heading towards if PAS are given the reign to govern this country exclusively.
My personal advise for PAS is focusing on more important issue such as fighting the corruption, creating more harmony society in Malaysia. At the same time please learn to respect every individual and society of Malaysia including Lina Joy.
Please be more practical and scientific in problem solving or you will create more problem for our beloved country.
